AGARTALA, May 28 (TIWN): Bengali community celebrated ‘Jamai Shashthi' amid lockdown, whereas the markets witnessed a disciplined mechanism with social distancing.
Long queues were seen before sweet shops as buyers gathered to purchase sweets for son-in-laws.
On the occasion of Jamai Shasthi celebration, the delicious Hilsa fish is a traditional item on the menu of New Year feast.
But due to the soaring price of Hilsa, it is gradually vanishing from the menu of the fixed income people.
Eating fish with rice is the followed as tradition in most of the Bengali families. But the skyrocketing price has become headache for the middle class and poor families.
Amid soaring prices many were seen in the city's markets to, people were seen buying Hilsa fish form the market.
