AGARTALA, May 5 (TIWN): Congress leader Gopal Roy has demanded financial help for the poor people and condemned the attacks on opposition party workers during various relief distribution programmes.
The Congress leader has demanded investigation in these incidents.
Addressing media, Gopal Roy said, “I demand from State Govt to give poor people Rs. 5,000. What Govt is doing, is very important for the situation that is to control the pandemic situation of COVID-19. We are ready to cooperate with the State Govt but Govt should be more constructive and should control attacks at the relief distribution programmes”.
“People’s joint relief distribution programmes are helping poor, needy people, but unfortunately it has been politicalized badly in Tripura. In Ranir Bazar, how the Congress workers were attacked, injured, it is highly condemnable. I condemn it. When PM to CM are calling people for helps, how other party workers can be attacked like this ? Govt should investigate the matter”, said Gopal Roy.
He further praised Sonia Gandhi's announcement today that the Congress would pay the train fare for migrants heading home amid the lockdown, asking Tripura Govt to learn something from her.
