AGARTALA, May 5 (TIWN): After State Govt has limited passengers’ numbers, the bus drivers have raised bus fares illegally in various parts of the state. Bus fares have increased suddenly without any official notice received to the Transport Dept.
For example, from Belonia to Agartala the fare is Rs. 70 but today the passengers had to pay Rs. 150, which is more than double. Then, from Bishalgarh to Agartala the fare is generally Rs. 20 but today the fare turned Rs. 40.
Similarly double or more than double charges are being taken from all passengers.
On being asked, the bus drivers said that from bus stand it was told them to keep hiked prices and to pick up passengers who can pay double.
The passengers alleged, if they deny to give double price then they are not allowed to step inside buses.
