AGARTALA, Feb 25 (TIWN): A rapist who had been awarded death penalty in Tripura for raping a minor in 2016 was today sentenced to 25 years jail in a High Court’s verdict. The death penalty was scrapped as police could not prove it as a rape because of the decomposed body of the victim was found, but as murder was proven thus High Court Chief Justice A.A.Kureshi has sentenced the convict Sanjay Tati 25 years jail under 302 section.
The criminal named Sanjay Tati allegedly raped, murdered a minor girl in 2018, 24th September.
The incident took place at Kamalpur subdivision’s Maheshpur Bangaljum area in a tea garden, when she was playing with other children.
On that time, Sanjay Tati took the girl inside his home and since then the girl was going missing. After 3 days her body was found in a jungle. Total 21 persons gave witness in this case.
