AGARTALA, Aug 10 (TIWN): War of Words in Tripura Politics centering indigenous people’s vote banks and now media is confused what to call the Indigenous people while publishing news.
After MP Jitendra Chaudhury on Indigenous day’s rally on Friday slammed BJP, RSS for calling indigenous or tribes as “Jana-Jati” which according to Jitendra Chaudhury means “Hanumaan” not human, today in a press conference, MP Rebati Tripura asked why CPI-M was using Upa-Jati phase for calling the tribes and why Jitendra Chaudhury was silent ?
“Jitendra Chaudhury was for long in the Parliament as MP but never raised the issue. If he was so compassionate for the Jana-jati, he should raise the issue when CPI-M was using Upajati word for long”, said the MP.
Jitendra Chaudhury was the former MP of East Tripura constituency and the present strong indigenous leader of CPI-M’s Ganamukti Parishad.
Jitendra Chaudhury’s speech on Indigenous day was, ““RSS, BJP believe that Arrays are India’s Adibasi, not the tribes. They do not accept indigenous people not Indian race and as a result they call them (tribes) Banabasi, Janajati”.
The press conference was called today by BJP MP Rebati Tripura to signal BJP will strengthen vote base more on hills, hitting indirectly its ally IPFT.
