AGARTALA, June 21 (TIWN): Chief Minister Biplab Deb in move for “Green Tripura†will inaugurate massive plantation drive tomorrow.
In an official programme the plantation drive will be launched in Udaipur subdivision of Gomati District in Tripura.
Govt has planned to plant trees by both sides of National Highway.
Shakti Kant Singh, District Forest Officer (DFO) of Gomati District in Tripura is observing the programme and making all arrangements for the inauguration function.
The trees which were cut while expanding roadway projects will be now covered up. Also, Udaipur lost its greenery as many times in the name of road expansion big trees were fell down for last 10 years but never re-planted which has affected the environment at there. Many roads like Udaipur-Melaghar left without road-expansion amid massive tree cuts.
Udaipur is suffering from lack-of-enough-monsoon due to dry weather and also huge areas of rubber plantation.
