AGARTALA, June 19 (TIWN): On the request of Chief Minister Biplab Deb, OTPC has made Arshiya Das, chess gem of Tripura as the brand ambassador and started to help her financially.
Earlier Arshiya’s father told Chief Minister Biplab Deb about the problems they are facing on financial ground and also said, it is not possible for the family to bear her expenditure.
It was calculated that per year 14 lakhs of expenditure is needed for Arshiya. After CM”s instruction, OTPC has released 12 lakhs.
8 years old girl Arshiya Das will represent India in the Asian School Chess Championship being held in Uzbekistan from Wednesday.
She is a student of class-III in Holy Cross School in Agartala. She had started playing chess when she was five years old and has won many tournaments across the country.
