AGARTALA / KANCHANPUR, Feb 15 (TIWN): Chakma community backed students’ organization explained Dasda-violence, sought action against both community's people who violated peace, which has left 5 Chakma youths injured and hospitalized.
The incident took place on February 8 and February 9 at Kanchapur’s Dasda between Chakma community and few miscreants from the Bengali community, centering a clash between two drivers from both communities.
This incident resulted in multiple attacks on each-other in groups, whereas actions have been not taken against the Bengali community’s people, alleged the Chakma community backed organization.
On 8th February one e-rickshaw driver and an auto driver came in clash with each-other from both communities.
Then the local police on next day called a peace meeting between both communities, but the Bengali community’s people didn’t come to join the peace meeting.
But, shortly after the meeting ended, they came and attacked Chakma Community’s people, 5 left injured in it, but the local administration didn’t help the resolve the matter.
On the next day the Chakma people further attacked the Bengalis who attacked them on the last day (February 8).
“We demand, the violence was instigated by both communities people and thus the punishments also should be given to both communities. Also, we demand Govt’s help to the 5 injured people who are hospitalized”, said the Chakma Students Association.
