AGARTALA, Feb 15 (TIWN): Once again Chief Minister Biplab Deb has raised storms of criticism and this time, he initiated the storm by saying his home is at Chattogram (Chittagong), which is at Bangladesh.
The Chief Minister was addressing at Pragna Bhawan in a training programme organized for self help group women when he said that. He claimed that it’s only India which is mother/ women centric country whereas America and China are not. He added, even at Chattogram (Bangladesh) where is his home they also often ask the women where is her Karta (owner of a woman) to mean where is her husband, but India is not like that and here women are given more values. However, whether CM meant his home or his ancestor's home, it’s not clear but it has triggered roars of laughter in social media.
It can be noted here that Supreme Court already has ordered inquiry on Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Deb’s citizenship’s validity.
At the same time a video has gone viral where BiplabDeb’s mother Mina Deb clearly saying, she came during East Pakistan (present Bangladesh) liberation war and Biplab Deb’s father came much later when Biplab Deb was 9 months in her womb. (Noteworthy, People who came after liberation war are considered as Bangladeshi). She also said, because of Bangladesh liberation wave, his name was kept “Biplab”. Surprisingly, Mina Deb said she came in 1971 whereas Chief Minister Biplab Deb said he came in 1961 (earlier once he said he came in 1968).
All these raises question, when Tripura is undergoing so much brutality at the end all the Indians in Tripura are being tortured under a Bangladeshi citizen in form of Chief Minister ? From Chief Minister and his family no clarification came yet. On the other side, Biplab Deb is urging day night in support of Citizenship Amendment Bill, raising further doubt of his “actual” background.
Supreme Court Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi on Tuesday has ordered for scrutiny of Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Deb’s citizenship-validity.This order came after a writ-petition was filed by Tripura Royal scion Pradyot Manikya.
At the same time, the Supreme Court has ordered that other people leading constitutional posts will also come under this scrutiny. Also, challenge was given by the petitioner against the ongoing controversial Citizenship Bill.
Earlier also many controversies had erupted in Tripura centering Chief Minister Biplab Deb’s originality. Another BJP MLA Krishnadhan Das’s citizenship and degrees are under cloud.
Subsequently, Tripura recorded influx of 13.50 lakh refugees from March 25, 1971 to September 30, 1971 following the civil war and Pakistan Army atrocities in East Pakistan during the Bangladesh liberation war.
