AGARTALA, Jan 22 (TIWN): 31 Rohingyas including 10 children have been brought in Tripura from Indo-Bangla border by BSF as BGB (Border Guards Bangladesh) have denied to allow their entry.
Police informed media, the Rohingyas were stranding at no-man’s-land in Indo-Bangla border. BGB had denied to make their entries in Bangladesh.
Thus, on humanitarian ground, BSF allowed their entry in India.FIR was lodged as they attempted to enter India illegally and to be produced before the court.
The Rohingya people are a stateless Indo-Aryan ethnic group who reside in Rakhine State, Myanmar. There were an estimated 1 million Rohingya living in Myanmar before the 2016–17 crisis. By December 2017, an estimated 625,000 refugees from Rakhine, Myanmar, had crossed the border into Bangladesh since August 2017.
