AGARTALA, Sep 28 (TIWN): Health Minister Sudip Barman on Friday has inaugurated International Day For the preservation of the Ozone Layer-2018 at Sukanta Academy.

While addressing on that occasion, Sudip Barman said, "Almighty has created planet earth along with the solar system living worthy for us human beings. The ozone layer is acting as the blanket of planet earth by stopping the ultra violate radiation of sun at 98 %".

"The ozone layer or ozone shield is a region of Earth's stratosphere that absorbs most of the Sun's ultraviolet radiation. But if the layer was not there then the earth would not be like that, but with the advancement of science and industry the blanket is now under danger", Barman said.

"Due to tortures upon nature a hole has been developed in the layer leading each year above 20 lakhs skin cancer patients are increasing", he said.

"The protective ozone layer that started depleting heavily in the 1980’s is on a recovery mode and now India is also participating in that. Hoping children will also become active members to save the ozone layer, such awareness campaigns are conducted", Sudip Barman told students.
