AGARTALA, May 26 (TIWN): Tripura Governor Tathagata Roy on the occasion of Kazi Nazrul Islam's birth anniversary said that Nazrul was financially helped by Dr Shyama Prasad Mukharjee during tough times.

''In 1942 when Nazrul and his family were under debts and both Nazrul and his wife were ill then Dr Syama Prasad Mukerjee repaid his loans and also restored the recuperation", In a tweet, Tathagata Roy has said this.

"A little known fact about Kazi Nazrul Islam: in 1942,when he and his wife were both seriously ill and moreover he deep in debt,a person repaid his loans and put him up at his family resort for rest and recuperation. Name of that person? Dr Shyama Prasad Mukerjee!", Governor tweeted.
