AGARTALA, September 5 (TIWN): Electronic Voting Machines (EVM) for the forthcoming by-election at 39 Manu assembly constituency would be commissioned at Sabroom SDM office on Saturday, Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Ashutosh Jindal said.
Speaking to reporters at the civil secretariat here this evening, Chief Electoral Officer Jindal said that candidates and agents of all political parties participating in the by-poll would be present during the process of commissioning.
Approximately 55 EVMs might be used for the by-poll, the CEO said. Meanwhile, General observer Sherring Wangchuk, an IAS officer from Jammu & Kashmir cadre and expenditure observer Gopesh Chandra Das have been camping in the constituency since the last few days.
The election authorities have readied strong rooms, counting halls at the office of the Returning Officer (RO). Vulnerability assessment is still underway to gauge security threat possibilities among the 46 polling stations spread across 38 locations that would go for by-polls onSeptember 13. Polls would continue from 7 AM till 5 PM; counting of votes would start on 8 AM on September 16.
