AGARTALA, May 14 (TIWN): ‘Dharamapal-Satyapal’ tobacco company at Agartala AD Nagar has been suddenly closed by the authority on yesterday after two decades of continuous business here.

The agitated workers who have been working in this company for long 18-19 years, have gheroaed the Labour Commissioner Tarun Debbarma on Monday.

The workers said, in last month they couldn’t withdraw their salaries also, but suddenly on yesterday via phone the Manager Pramod Sharma dictated the security guard to lock the company and on the next day the workers found a notice pasted on the door that ‘Company closed’ !

The jobless workers also warned to commit suicide if no solution is given by the govt right now.

“Govt may invest for any product if not tobacco, but our jobs must be saved. The company was profited with at least Rs. 22,000 crores from Tripura”, the agitating workers said.
