AGARTALA, May 14 (TIWN): The confusions which had been emerged regarding social pensions’ temporary suspension in Tripura, has been ended as the state govt today said that the social pensions were not stopped.
The issue was raised after both opposition CPI-M and Congress had alleged, social pensions were stopped in Tripura for review. Not only this, one BJP topmost leader Pratima Bhowmik also said, pensions will be cleared after June month.
However, the pension rates are still as earlier, even though it was promised to be hiked at Rs. 2,000/.
BJP Social Welfare Minister Santana Chakma has expressed shocks over the oppositions claims of social pension’s suspension. The Minister not only said that the pensions are being given regularly, but also claimed that all the beneficiaries who are getting pensions will continue to get it. She said, the suspension was not in the pension-process but it was in the new beneficiaries names entry.
Before Santana Chakma addressed today, both CPI-M, Congress had claimed that ‘Social pensions are stopped’. Not only this, on yesterday BJP leader Pratima Bhowmik said the pensions were stopped for review as many fake beneficiaries are enjoying social-pensions and within June month the review most likely to be ended.
Congress has called the move of the Govt as “Undemocratic to stop 4.5 lakh beneficiaries allowances”, whereas CPI-M said, “It’s unthinkable”.
However, the Tripura government today said that social security pensions were not temporarily suspended and the process, to provide pensions to the beneficiaries, has been initiated.
