AGARTALA, May 13 (TIWN): Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Deb recently more than once has said that with addiction-free society’s formation, crime against women will be down. “I don’t believe in any data and record, but unless and until we are able to make an addiction free society, till then crime against women will not endâ€, CM said. The BJP govt since the beginning had challenged to diminish all kinds of drug-hubs and illegal selling of various items as phensedyl, corex etc. The Govt has also aimed to end the cross border smuggling. “To provide jobs to the youths is the responsibility of the govt, but just because I am unable to provide jobs to them, I will lead them in wrong path, it's not correct. Such kinds of mentality has been carried by our previous CPI-M govt. But this new govt is determined to end those immoral practices, as an addicted society can not be a developed society. The day Tripura will become addiction-free, Crime against women will automatically down’.
In the last year, before the election season repeatedly the issue was raised regarding the increasing crime against women under Left ruled Tripura. The crime rate which was claimed by the Bharataiya Janata Party was at least 86 %
In the last two months amid crimes, the most dangerous practice which has been increased is beating girls, women openly in the market. Hence in this regard proper statement was not given by the state govt, whereas CPI-M backed Women Commission also was also mute in that matter except making some visits for formality to the victims.
