Kamalpur, April 7 (TIWN): Acting on a tip-off, police nabbed five gamblers with cash and kinds in the bordering subdivision of Kamalpur in the northern Tripura district of Dhalai after which demand raised for more stringent laws to handle such elements here.
On Friday evening around 7 pm the Subdivisional Police Officer(SDPO) of Kamalpur Babul Das along with the Officer in charge(OC) of Kamalpur police station Amal Chakraborty raided at the tribal hamlet of Santosia and nabbed five gamblers with cash of rupees 18,190 and gambling materials. The nabbed gamblers were Rajesh kr Das, Sona Debbarma, Nikhil Das, Abhijit Das and Amal Namasudra. Then police booked them under Act 12 of Tripura Gambling Act and produced before the Court. But according to the provision of law they got bail.
In this context, demands started to be raised that the law should be made more stringent so that such offenders would not be able to get bail.
