AGARTALA, March 24 (TIWN): Two women in Tripura were beaten, assaulted on yesterday in Bishalgarh market.
A businessman Swapan Saha is the main accused in the incident.
Thousands of people witnessed the incident silently, when two sisters named Titu Sarkar and Mithu Sarkar were attacked and assaulted.
Resentments have brewed against women police force too for negligence in duty.
The two ladies went to Swapan Saha's shop on yesterday to buy cold-drinks. On that time Swapan Saha tried to assault Mithu.
When both the sisters protested, then few local shop keepers and a driver attacked them openly in the market.
Bishalgarh police rescued the women and took them to police station. On yesterday evening four persons were arrested, as per the last information. Police is now investigating the case.
