AGARTALA, March 16 (TIWN): Tripura's Deputy Chief Minister Jishnu Debbarma has taken oath as the Member of Legislative Assembly today after he won the Charilam Election on yesterday.
The Deputy CM already took oath with the CM and other Ministers on March 9. He took the oath as MLA later as the election result of Charilam was declared on yesterday.
Tripura Assembly Pro-tem speaker Ratan Chakraborty has administered the oath at the Assembly today.
BJP nominee and Tripura Deputy Chief Minister Jishnu Debbarma won the Charilam Assembly by-election on Thursday, defeating CPI-M candidate by a record margin of 25,550 votes, official said.
With this, the number of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) seats in the Assembly rose to 36 in the 60-member house while its ally Indigenous People's Front of Tripura (IPFT) has eight seats, taking their total strength to 44 -- more than two-thirds majority.
Jishnu Debbarma (Deputy CM) has taken charges of these departments : 1) Power Dept, 2) Finance Dept, 3) Rural Development Dept.
