Agartala, August 26 (TIWN): A 37 old man from Sonamura sub-division today died in police custody at Tabouk province in northwestern Saudi Arabia. Family sources in Sonapur village under Sonamura police station demanded intervention from the central and state government to bring back the body from Saudi for cremation.
Abdul Sattar (35), a youngman from Sonapur village, joined work in a market complex at Tabouk some five years back. Two others from the villagers work in the same province of Saudi Arabia as well. The duo discovered their friends’ after they called on his residence today, Sattar’s father Abdul Majid said. He added that Sattar was known to have been arrested around three months back.
Sattar was charged with kidnapping charges in a misunderstanding when he tried to help a kid Saudi kid who fell on the ground at a park near his workplace, family sources said. He was reportedly sent to three months’ custody by a local court.
His father Abdul Majid later said that the family seeks return of his sons’s body. “I was told he died inside the police custody barely seven days before he was supposed to be released. Idon’t want any justice or something. I want my son back”, he said.
The deceased is reported to have visited his family in Tripura barely a year back. He stayed for two months before he left the country again for work.
