Assam govt drops Rajiv Gandhi's name from national park

Guwahati, Sep 2 (TIWN) The Congress in Assam on Thursday slammed the BJP-led state government's decision to drop â??Rajiv Gandhi from the name of Orang National Park, located around 120 kn from Guwahati.
The development comes weeks after the Centre dropped former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi’s name from the Khel Ratna award. Wednesday’s decision was taken by the state Cabinet after “taking cognizance of the Adivasi and Tea Tribe Community’s demands”, a release from the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) said.
