BCI to SC: Proposing to frame rules to curb lawyers' strikes, court boycotts

New Delhi, Aug 27 (TIWN) Bar Council of India (BCI) on Friday informed the Supreme Court that it will frame rules to curb lawyers' strikes and also initiate action against those who provoke advocates, via social media platforms, to abstain from court hearings.
"We convened meeting of all bar council with BCI. We propose to frame rules to curb strikes and boycotts and rules to punish members of bar Association who go on strike without proper justification", Mishra told the bench. On the last occasion, the bench had sought the assistance of the BCI Chairman to deal with the issue of lawyers strikes. The bench was hearing a suo motu case taken to deal with this issue.
