Terrorists kill Assam Rifles jawan, hurt another in Arunachal

Itanagar, Oct 21 (TIWN) An Assam Rifles jawan was killed while another received bullet injuries on Wednesday during an encounter with suspected militants in Tirap district in southern Arunachal Pradesh, the police said.
The slain jawan has been identified as Havildar Birendra Singh Yadav, district Superintendent of Police Mihin Gambo said.
"The ambush took place near Tengmo village in Jairampur sub-division around 9 am when the Assam Rifles personnel were returning to their camp in a water tanker after fetching water," the SP said.
The exchange of fire lasted for around 30 minutes, the officer said.
The injured jawan has been admitted to a hospital, Gambo said, adding casualties on the militants' side is not immediately known.
A massive combined search operation by Assam Rifles, the state police and the CRPF is underway, the SP added.
