AGARTALA, Oct 4 (TIWN): After increasing 40% fuel price since 2014, Modi Govt decreased Rs. 2.5 and State Govt further Rs. 2.5 petrol / diesel price and Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Deb has called it a "Historical Decision" whereas since 2014 Modi Govt collected Rs. 11 lakh crores from fuel taxes and fuel price is still high.
"From midnight petrol price will down at Rs. 77.36 which is right now at Rs. 82.36. Diesel price in Tripura is Rs. 75.60 which will be downed at Rs. 70.60 from midnight. It is indeed a historical decision", said CM.
"First of all I thank PM Modi and Finance Minister Arun Jaitley as in such a time the rate has been downed when Durga puja is knocking doors. It has relieved 37 lakhs Tripura people proving Modi Govt is Govt of people", CM added.
With unrelenting increase in fuel prices, the government on Thursday decided to effect a cut in the prices of petrol and diesel by Rs 2.50 per litre.
Finance Minsiter Arun Jaitley announced at a press conference that the cut will be effected through slashing of excise duty to the tune of Rs 1.50 per litre, while the oil marketing companies will absorb the impact to the tune of Re 1 per litre.
