PM Modi holds bilateral talks with Japanese counterpart Kishida, thanks him for G7 summit invite

New Delhi, March 21 : Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Japanese counterpart, Fumio Kishida on Monday held wide-ranging bilateral discussions.

"Prime Minister Fumio Kishida invited me to the G7 Leaders' Summit which will be held in Hiroshima in May. I thank him for this," PM Modi said.
The Prime Minister held talks with wide-ranging talks with Kishida to expand India-Japan strategic partnership for a peaceful, stable and prosperous post-Covid world. The Japanese PM arrived earlier today on a two-day official visit.
Welcoming his Japanese counterpart, PM Modi said, "In the last one year, PM Fumio Kishida and I have met several times and every time I've felt his positivity and commitment to the India-Japan bilateral relationship. His today's visit will be beneficial to maintain this momentum".

The Prime Minister added that he is happy to be able to welcome Kishida again in September this year. "In September this year, I will again get the opportunity to welcome PM Fumio Kishida to India for the G20 Leaders' Summit," PM Modi said.
Japan and India are holding the presidencies of G7 and G20 respectively this year.
In his statement after the talks, PM Modi said the meeting aims to give a voice to the global South and strengthen the India-Japan relationship.
Before holding talks with PM Modi at the Hyderabad House, Kishida paid his respects to Mahatma Gandhi at Rajghat.

The Japanese PM was receieved by Union minister Rajeev Chandrasekhar at the Palam airport. Kishida's visit is seen as a great opportunity to review bilateral ties between the two countries. This is his second visit to the country as the prime minister of Japan.
