Global COVID-19 cases surpass those inside China: WHO

Geneva, March 17 (TIWN) More than 83,000 confirmed coronavirus cases have been reported outside China as of Monday, exceeding the cumulative number of infections in the Asian giant, where the virus originated last December, a World Health Organization (WHO) spokesperson said.
China, where the first cluster of coronavirus patients was discovered late last year, has reported 3,217 deaths, including four in Hong Kong. Globally, the number of deaths stands at 3,296 outside of China, including one in Taiwan, according to the tracker’s latest count.
