AGARTALA, Jan 14 (TIWN): Tripura Governor Tathagata Roy has greeted his state's people on the auspicious occasion of Makar Sankranti. Talking to TIWN, Roy conveyed a message for the state and said, "My Best Wishes to everyone on the occasion of our Makar Sankranti". However, Roy is not here in Raj Bhawan as due to work, he is out of station and most likely is coming back within a day or two.On the occasion of Makar Sankranti across Tripura celebrations are going on. From North Tripura to South Tripura, the celebrations have gripped the state in festive mood. At Chakmaghat, Udaipur's Tripura Sundari temple, Tirthamukh devotees have thronged to take holy bath, offering prayers.
In all local temples, people are offering puja to mark the celebration.
On the other side, like every year, two-day long Poush Sankranti Mela on the bank of river Gomati at Tirthamukh has been continued led huge devotees rushes. A slight affect was seen in the gathering in compare to other years due to election temperament.
Across house to house Makar Sankranti celebrations have marked the Bengali traditional occasion of Poush-Sankranti. Since yesterday evening picnics had started and in the morning customaries had completed with Burir-Dala celebration.
Puli Pithe, Paatisapta, Maalpoaa, Narkel Nadu, Til Nadu are some of the most famous sweet dishes that mark Poush Parbon. Khejurer Gur or jaggery made from dates is the iconic item of the Poush Parbon. Makar Sankranti is a blissful festival celebrated by Hindus.
Amidst election temperament, public are enjoying the Makar Sankranti with full enthusiasm this year.
Securities have been tightened across various fairs, gatherings and each localities.
