BISHALGARH / AGARTALA, Dec 21 (TIWN): In a major breakthrough on information of BSF Intelligence Brach Gokulnagar troops of 168 Bn along with Police seized 494 Kgs Dry Ganja (Cannabis) from village Ramchera, PS - BishalgarhDistt- Sepahijala. Market value of seized Dry Ganja is about 25 lakhs.
On specific pin point information of Field Intelligence Team BSF Gokulnagar, a joint ops was planned and carried out by DC (G) and SDPO Bishalgarh and troops of BSF & Police, during which 494 Kgs Dry Ganja was seized from the house of PrafullaAdhikari (38 Yrs) S/O- SuklalAdhikari, R/O Village- Ramchera, PS- Bishalgarh, which was clandestinely kept in an underground godown of his house.
PrafullaAdhikari used to store Ganja illegally in his house for supplying/smuggling to hinterland in India and cross the border to Bangladesh. It seems that Ganja was stored few months back by him to illegally trade, as per demand and supply. Police have registered case under NDPS Act at PS Bishalgarhagainst PrafullaAdhikari.
It is worth to mention that on specific and actionable intelligence provided by Intelligence branch, BSF is seizing significant quantity of contraband items like Ganja, Phensedyle, Liquor, Garments, Yaba tablets etc. In addition to day and night vigil, BSF is making all outeffort to educate border population against menace of smuggling activities and motivating youths to desist from use of drugs which may be exploited by anti-national elements of the country, to further their nefarious designs.
