Drug trafficking goes on unabated

AGARTALA, August 21 (TIWN): Smuggling of intoxicating drugs is going on unabated through various borders of Unakoti district Sadar and Indo-Bangla despite police tightening noose around couriers. Even after the recovering of intoxicating drugs, there is no arrest from the part of police brewing resentment among the mass.

Sources said, the intoxicating drug business is going on since days. Businessmen and smugglers have been utilizing the border of the entire state as corridor for smuggling from Assam-Manipur. Smuggling of intoxicating drugs especially phensedyl and corex is relentlessly active in border areas of Kumarghat, Kailasahar and Longtrai Valley. A few police officials are allegedly involved in the smuggling.

Sources revealed that smuggling has been carried out from a secret area of Agartala Airport road to different places of Unakoti district. Also, there is a secret place in Longtrai Valley, according to sources. Police is having a mutual understanding with the drug traders, hence, not taking any action against the illegal trafficking of drug.

Besides, allegations were raised that a few police personnel initially seizes bottles of phensedyl and immediately sells the bottles in black. Furthermore, they sell the bottles in front of the common people openly. Hence, the people are acknowledged of the issue very well.

 

Considering such incidents, common people could not keep faith on Police and police officials are allegedly involved in such activities as it has become a source of their additional income. Illegal drug use has to stop! It hurts the society, it hurts youth, and mainly, it hurts the user.
