AGARTALA, Oct 29 (TIWN): During Rajdhani Express’s inauguration in Tripura, Central Railway Minister for state Rajen Gohain said that under PM Modi’s developmental agenda roads are equally important as Railway for the sake of development. However, in this regard it’s noteworthy that the ongoing double lane project workers in Tripura under Central Govt are working whole night and also during days to complete the work in scheduled times. The Minister said, “Till day only talks about Northeast development could be heard but no Govt actually cared for Northeast as Modi Govt is now taking cares". "PM Modi had determined to develop Northeast. Today we have broad gauge in maximum states of Northeast. Only at Sikkim, we couldn't launch BG service due to land acquisition problems" said Gohain.
"Tripura is undergoing tremendous changes, development due to Railway expansion and I can see that. Today across the country Railway is expanding its network, laying tracks to connect, join all the States", said Gohain.
"Within 2019 all Northeast states' capitals to be joined with BG connection", the Minister added.
On July 22, 2017 Union Minister for Road Transport & Highways Mansukh Mandaviya announced that Tripura will have 10 National Highways in the coming years.
"All together Tripura will have 10 National Highways and both the state and the central govt are in talk regarding this matter", said Mandaviya.
Earlier, Tripura had only one national highway taking 371 KM altogether but in last 3 years under the NDA Govt 5 National Highway's approval has been given that will cover around 554 KM altogether; so we will have 854 KM. We have 4 new projects in hand covering 229 km, that means total 10 national highways Tripura will get in coming days.
