AGARTALA, Oct 25 (TIWN): One again a vague report is waiting to be sanctioned from Centre as Tripura Govt has sent a report with Rs. 80 crores of losses on in Agriculture in Tripura. The report was made within less than 24 hours of the rain.

State Tripura already has lost its agriculture, production, its markets are burning with heavy prices due to the exported agricultural items selling across the state.  Tripura’s GDP growth rate is only 7 %, which is the lowest in the whole country even worse than Jharkhand and any North Eastern States.  In this condition how 80 crores of losses the state govt reported to dentre it has already raised question.

Addressing a press meet at Secretariat, PWD Minister Badal Chowdhury said, “Due to the depression at Bay of Bengal a constant rain has hit the state led massive floods across the state from Oct 19 to Oct 22. Total 139 flood relief camps were opened and 5893 families have taken shelter in those camps. Medicines, foods everything are provided in sufficient manner".But surprising matter is that when the Minister is claiming about full care to the flood victims on the other side the flood victims are alleging about total negligence of the Govt.

The flood victims also alleged about pathetic condition of flood relief camps which lacks basic facilities.

Badal Chowdhury further said, “We have started to measure the flood losses across the state. PWD has estimated Rs. 9 crores of losses, Agriculture 80 crores, Fishery 12 crores, irrigation dept 55 crores. At the Dist level also the measuring of losses have started”.
