AGARTALA, Sep 25 (TIWN): Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay who was an Indian politician, was one of the most important leaders of the Bharatiya Jana Snagha, the forerunner of the present day BJP.

Tripura BJP has observed Deendayal Upadhyay 's 101st birth anniversary at the party office.

This year marks the 101st birth anniversary of Deendayal Upadhyaya, known for his contribution to social-political philosophy in the form of his idea of ‘Integral Humanism’.

Upadhyaya, along with anti-Nehru figure and Kashmir crusader Shyama Prasad Mookerjee, make for the two major ideological inspirations for the BJP-RSS Parivar.

The significance of Upadhyaya is central to the right-wing and the BJP plans on holding its national council meeting at Kozhikode in northern Kerala, where he was elected the president of the Jan Sangh - the predecessor to the BJP - for the first time here in 1967.
