AGARTALA, Sep 22 (TIWN): Tripura Infoway on Sep-9 had titled Chief Minister Manik Sarkar's walk on a rally for Gouri Lankesh as a 'drama'. However, sharp attacks on the news coverage of Sep-9 was observed but ironically Manik Sarkar himself has proven--- It was a Drama ! When the peacemonger Communist leaders shed their tears on Gouri's death accusing RSS / BJP has killed her, but giving a surprise Chief Minister Manik Sarkar did not came to the journalists' agitation spot to meet the journalists who were protesting demanding CM's statement on Sep-20 after Santanu's murder, rather few journalists were called at the Secretariat to talk to the Chief Minister as if the Chief Minister was unready to face the journalists.
Most condemnable thing is CM didn't pass any statement on the brutal murder eventhough he is holding the Home Ministry and now the internet has been cut so that the updates on Santanu's murder case can not be broadcasted.
Every journalist expected that CM will remain present at the Agartala press club, when Santanu's body will be brought, but there also he did not come. Is this govt ASHAMED of the journalist's murder ? Why no suspension of the KILLER POLICE Officials?
TIWN published a news on Sep-9 titled, "New Drama begins in Tripura : Manik walks for Gauri Lankesh !" The news further described, "Amidst much allegations against Naxals for killing journalist Gauri Lankesh, Tripura Chief Minister Manik Sarkar has walked in a rally expressing his grief over Lankesh’s death. In Manik Sarkar’s own state from Anuara to many victims left without justice, but Sarkar has no time to walk on rally for them".
Now was this claim false ?
Tripura Journalists asked ICA Minister, 'It was the first cabinet meeting after Santanu's murder. Tripura CM always fails to take any decision. So, we thought via the cabinet you people will discuss the matter. But why Santanu was ignored in your cabinet meeting ?' Saha also added, Bhanulal Saha said, "Only police can not control everything. When common people take the role the matters get worst".
On Sep-20 Tripura Journalists being shocked, grieved with the barbaric murder of young journalist Santanu Bhowmik, hit Agartala streets with protest-roars demanding immediate arrest of Santanu’s murderers. Santanu was the first murdered journalist in Tripura’s history and thus Sep-20 has been spotted as the dark day of the democracy under the Left Front Govt. However, even though it was expected that Chief Minister Manik Sarkar will come to the spot to console the journalists, but sadly he did not. Later, a group of journalists had to visit Secretariat to meet the Chief Minister and take his assurance about arrest the murderers.
In a brutal attack during IPFT / CPI-M clash has killed Tripura young journalist Santanu Bhowmik on Wednesday. Resident of Jirania, the young journalist was associated with various electronic media who has been killed while covering IPFT and CPI-M clash at Mandai.
