AGARTALA, Sep 21 (TIWN): Politicians should be ashamed before they think they can convert a journalist with their political colour. In the last adieu of Santanu Bhowmik Tripura PWD Minister Badal Chowdhury has given "Red Salute" to the brave journalist. How dare the politicians to show Red-Salute to an Independent journalist ? However, what better can be expected from them whose National General Secretary Sitaram Yechury immediately after his death declared, "RSS, BJP backed IPFT has killed Tripura Journalist".
The killed journalist's dead body was brought in Agartala Press Club and amidst tears on eyes the last adieu was given to Santanu. His lifeless body has sent at Jirania in his home followed by massive rallies of journalists.
Tripura Journalists being shocked, grieved with the barbaric murder of young journalist Santanu Bhowmik, hit Agartala streets with protest-roars demanding immediate arrest of Santanu’s murderers. Santanu was the first murdered journalist in Tripura’s history and thus Sep-20 has been spotted as the dark day of the democracy under the Left Front Govt.
However, even though it was expected that Chief Minister Manik Sarkar will come to the spot to console the journalists, but sadly he did not. Later, a group of journalists had to visit Secretariat to meet the Chief Minister and take his assurance about arrest the murderers. At 12 AM the blockade was withdrawn by the journalists peacefully.
Another shameless politician Sitaram Yechury has tweeted, "This ghastly act is about BJP-RSS' approach to journalists and silencing voices. How desperate it is in Tripura to resort to such tactics. RSS-BJP's time-tested recipe of preparing for elections is through murderous attacks and violence. Tripura will not succumb to their intimidation".
