Internet service suspended in Tripura after journalist's brutal murder : Section 144 continues as Mandai

AGARTALA, Sep 21 (TIWN): Internet service has been cut in Tripura to stop further violence in state following the brutal murder of journalist Santanu Bhowmik at Mandai in CPI-M and IPFT clash. But sadly, till now not a single accuse could be arrested by police amidst high pitching of CPI-M alleging 'IPFT killed Santanu'. Since night 12 the internet suspension has been implemented, whereas it will continue atleast till night 12 AM as a part of 24 hours net-suspension. Offices, banks have been paralyzed with the sudden suspension. Last time on July 21st in a similar manner internet was cut, during IPFT's National Highway blockade. Section 144 is being continued at Jirania subdivision. Moreover, even though not a single person has been arrested but CPI-M has called 8 hours strike at Jirania subdivision protesting against journalists Santanu Bhowmik's murder.

Till now no untoward incident took place yet, but tension prevails at Jirania.

Tripura journalists had timebounded the state govt with 12 hours to arrest the culprits but till now no arrest has been done so far even though 12 hours have gone. Meeting the Chief Minister Manik Sarkar at the Secretariat, the journalists were assured that the murderers will be arrested soon.  

In a brutal attack during a political clash Tripura's young journalist Santanu Bhowmik was killed on Wednesday. Resident of Jirania, the young journalist was associated with various electronic media who has been killed while covering IPFT and CPI-M clash at Mandai.
