CPI (M) Central Committee meet ends, 21st party congress to be held at Vishakhapatnam in April, and 2015

AGARTALA, August 10 (TIWN): The CPI (M) central committee meeting that started at New Delhi on August 08 ended today with a set of strategic policies to revive from the disastrous results of the 2014 Lok Sabha elections.The meeting resolved that the party would henceforth work for strengthening and broadening party base across the country.

 "The party will work for strengthening left unity and work for emergence of a broad political platform to fight against neo liberal policies, against communalism and imperialism", a statement from the party said today.
Asked about the next course of action, a highly placed source in the CPI (M) Tripura state committee said that the central committee conference concluded with the decision to hold the 21st party congress at Vishakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh in Aprilm 2015.
The source further said that the party would observe its golden jubilee through a month-long schedule of cultural programmes and campaign in November, 2014.
The central committee meeting further finalized the conference schedules for party bodies ranging from branch committees to the next party congress.
A delegation of six senior leaders of the Tripura state CPI (M) state committee including Chief Minister Manik Sarkar on Thursday left for New Delhi to attend the politburo and central committee meeting.The party’s state general secretary Bijan Dhar, former MP Bajuban Riyan, Rama Das, finance minister Badal Choudhury and minister of agriculture Aghore Debbarma left for Delhi to attend the central committee meeting as well.
The 20th party congress of CPI (M) was held at Kozhikode in April, 2012. The session decided to make a major shift of policies from the Soviet Russian model of communist struggle to the Latin American model of alternative path of development.
