AGARTALA, August 9 (TIWN): Director of Higher Education Dr. Bipradas Palit today urged for higher stress on Sanskrit learning and said that the ancient language had much to offer the modern life. Addressing the inaugural session of the Sanskrit week celebration at the Ekalavya Campus of Rashtriya Sanskrit Sansthan, a deemed university located in Tripura here, chief guest Dr. B Palit said that Sanskrit should be practiced and revered alongwith other modern subjects like science, technology and others.

The inaugural ceremony was presided over by Professor KB Subbarayadu, principal of the RSKS Ekalavya campus. A rally was later organized by students of the RSKS campus to spread and promote Sanskrit learning. Professor Lalit Kumar Sahoo, head of the Dharmashastra department, delivered the welcome speech.

Guest of Honour Acharya Rameshwar Bhattacharya stressed on the need to propagate Sanskrit tradition and learning during his speech and said the pure way of life embedded in the language had much to be learnt from. “Cultivation of traditional Sanskrit learning in the princely state of Tripura was in full swing from early times under the royal patronage.

With the advent of modern education, Sanskrit has been taught at the undergraduate level in the colleges”, head of the Sahitya department Dr. Kripa Shankar Sharma said.
