AMARPUR, Sep 4 (TIWN): Allegation raised against a forester Hiran Chakma for helping in illegal tree cutting and wood business.
The report came from Amarpur says that the forest dept officer maximum times manages certificates for the wood cutting by fully violating the norms of Forest Act.
It was also heard that Hiran Chakma sold the woods at Rs. 8 lakhs to a businessman of Udaipur whereas only Rs 95,000 was deposited to the Govt account.
Moreover, the wood cutter names those were mentioned in the Forest Dept list they are somehow connected with illegal wood-business and widely known as smugglers.
Such robbery of forests are going on since decades but under the Forest Ministry of Naresh Jamatia no strict action has been taken against them.
Such illegal wood cutting not only hitting the laws but also affecting the environment due to massive deforestation.
