AGARTALA, August 9 (TIWN): Though the Right to Education Act has set ambitious targets, a study by a government education think tank has projected a dismal picture of infrastructure in schools across the state especially in rural areas. The education system in rural area schools has fallen flat and many factors can be linked with this crisis. Sources said, corruption and irregularities prevail in the Chandramohan Chowdhury Para S.B. School at Manpathar area of Santirbazaar sub division.

The teachers are not conducting their classes properly even cannot match up with students in resolving their queries. The problems are plenty: there is bias, favoritism among the teachers.

Allegations were raised that the school lacks in basic infrastructure. The students face immense problems due to shortage of benches. Besides, the school is having an access to pure drinking water.

The total number of students in the school stands at 158. Compared to the number of students, a few teachers are running the classes. The teachers never arrive at the school on time. Furthermore, it was alleged that the teachers though attend the schools, most of the times they do not attend classes and remain indulged in gossiping.

Whenever, any student gets injured, the teachers do not have the minimum responsibility to look after the issues sparking resentment among the guardians. It is worthy to mention here that the students very often do not get the mid-day meal which they are supposed to get.

Despite the problems affecting the education system of the school and the future of students, the higher ups are not taking any initiative to sort out the problems. Though the state government has upgraded several secondary schools into high schools, there was an acute shortage of teachers and more so good teachers.  The government do allocate funds but whether they are utilized is something that needs to be questioned.
