AGARTALA, August 9 (TIWN): The Tripura Trinamool Congress Committee today said that the party would raise its opposition against Chief Minister Manik Sarkar’s recent speech insulting the High Court of Tripura at the inaugural session of the Sonamura District and Sessions Court with Governor Governor Padmanabha Balakrishna Acharya. We shall request the Governor to raise the issue with President Pranab Mukherjee and seek proper action on the issue, TMC chairperson Ratan Chakraborty said here today. Addressing the media at the Agartala Press Club here this afternoon, Chakraborty said that All India general secretary of Trinamool Congress Mukul Roy would be visiting Tripura in September.

“TMC supremo Mamata Banerjee is expected to visit the state soon. Roy’s visit would finalize her visit schedule”, Chakraborty said. Asked about tentative schedule of Mukul Roy’s visit, he said that the dates weren’t finalized as yet.

He trained guns at the ruling CPI (M) and said that constant attacks were continued on opposition forces. “We have asked all local leaders to congratulate voters who voted for the party in the last three tier Panchayat election”, he said. “Trinamool Congress wants to express its solidarity to all its friends and well wishers. We want to assure people that we would be with them, even in their worst times”, he said.

Speaking on the Chief Minister’s controversial statement on judiciary at the Sonamura District and Sessions Court, the TMC chief said that the CM’s speech directly contradicted the democratic fabric of the country. “His speech indicated that the state government is trying to stop the judiciary from delivering justice. The attempt of limiting jurisdiction of the judiciary is against the democratic spirit of the nation at large”, Chakraborty said.

He said that safety and security situation was growing worse in the state and added that traffic personnel now had to be guarded by TSR jawans on the streets of Agartala city. The party today demanded higher perks and benefits for Commonwealth Games medalist and ace gymnast Dipa Karmakar. The Trinamool Congress today demanded the government to announce a financial benefit of Rs. 10 lakh soon as a sign of recognition of her commendable feat at the CWG.
