AGARTALA, August 8 (TIWN): The BSNL service of South Tripura district has been suffering from serious technical degradation and indigent service connectivity. The newly appointed General Manager of BSNL J. Ravi Chandran assured to sort out the problem.

The administration is not taking any initiative to sort out the problems. The BSNL subscribers have placed repeated complaints at the local BSNL department, but in vain. Alike the other parts of south district such as Belonia and Santirbazaar, the telephone service connectivity in the sub division irks the subscribers.

The call gets disconnected any time for several times in a day, as the source said here. The sources said, “This regular disruption in connection is an affect of the technical snag and causing serious communication problem”.

The destitution in service is so vital that the numbers of telephone connectivity has marked a serious downfall. 3 years back, there were 2000 telephone connection in this area and now the numbers have dwindled up to only 200 service connections.

Similar is the condition of the broadband internet connection. BSNL broadband users rued that they have to put up with poor connectivity and slow speed, particularly in rural areas. Customers said the service provider has been taking them for a ride in spite of repeated complaints. “Even after paying hefty charges for internet access, we have to keep other connections as a standby, given the unreliable service of BSNL”, alleged a user.

With its slow speed, the internet connectivity does not withstand for a span of 10 days in a month and still the customers are being charged for the entire month.

For assessing the poor BSNL service, J. Ravi Chandran has visited Sabroom recently and assured to take immediate action. Addressing a group of journalists he added that, “Adequate actions to improvise better telephone and internet connectivity will be taken soon”.
