Agartala, Aug 3 (TIWN): On the event of Diarrhea Prevention Fortnight, special Village Health Nutrition Day (VHND) is scheduled to be observed at Silacherri and Karbook block on Aug 04.
With the joint initiative of Karbook-Silacherri block, concerned health centre and department of Social Welfare and Social Education, VHND would be observed at East Karbook ADC village under Karbook block and Kaptali ADC village under Silacherri block.
In a meeting held on Aug 02 presided over by Priyamani Debbarma, the decision was taken. Chief Medical Officer (CMO), SDM of Karbook sub division and BDO’s of the concerned blocks remained present there in the meeting.
Nutrition Day would be observed on Aug 05 at West Karbook and Bagachetal ADC village. On the event f Nutrition Day, besides, creating awareness among the people over prevention of diarrhoea, children would be vaccinated and ORS would be distributed among them. There would be demonstrations on hand washing method and child feeding.
A similar programme is scheduled to be organized on Aug 06 at Paticherri and Ghorakappa ADC village under Karbook and Silacherri block. The said areas are detected as malaria prone areas. Hence, detailed discussion would be held on malaria prevention during every VHND.
Nutrition Day would be observed at South Karbook and Suknacherri ADC village on Aug 07. On Aug 09, programme has been organized at Jaleya and Silacherri under Karbook and Silacherri block respectively. VHND would be observed at Barbil on Aug 11 and at Silacherri Ailmara ADC village on Aug 12.
It is worthy to mention here that VHND is observed for 4 consecutive times every month in each village of Gomati district.
