3 persons admitted in Udaipur with Encefelitis; Medical Superintendent does not know about the existing treatment facilities in Tripura Sundari Hospital
TIWN

UDAIPUR, August 4 (TIWN): Although three persons infected with Ancefelitis were admitted in Tripura Sundari Hospital in Udaipur , Medical Superintendent Dr Debasish Roy does not even know that treatment facilities of Ancefelitis are available in Tripura Sundari Hospital. Such an insincere official he is that he can't even say correctly whether the persons admitted in Tripura Sundari Hospital are still there or not. Reacting to a question from media persons on Sunday evening Medical Superintendent of Tripura Sundari Hospital Dr Debasish Roy made some interesting comments. He said over phone," Treatment like Ancefelitis is available only in Agartala Govt Medical College(AGMC). Today when we came to know about the incident we immediately referred them to AGMC."

Surprisingly Chief Medical Officer Gomati District Dr Niru Mihan Jamatia told media persons ," Ancefelitis treatment facilities are available in Tripura Sundari Hospital and kits are also available in adequate numbers. One does not need to worry but if any such symptoms of Ancefelitis are found in the Gomati District the persons should be admitted in Tripura Sundari Hospital . " Further more interesting is the reaction of Medical Superintendent when he learns that none of persons admitted is referred to AGMC. Knowing from media persons a visibly shocked Medical Superintendent Dr Debasish Roy remarked," What!!! Not even referred? They should have in AGMC by now! OK, I will see what has happened." Actually the doctor on duty did not refer the patients to AGMC.

It is learnt that on 15th July a person namely Pradip Das, his wife Misthu Das and their daughter Paramita Das(5) of Rajdhanagar , Jamjuri went to CMC Vellore along with their relative Ajit Das of MataBari area  as Prabir is scheduled to underyourgo a critical surgery in CMC Vellore. During these days Misthu Das, her daughter Paramita and Ajit felt some physical weakness. On 29thJuly they took medical advice in CMC Vellore and the doctors advised them to go for blood test. On 31st July blood reports came showing that Misthu, Paramita and Ajit were attacked by Adis mosquito( the mosquito that bears the virus of Ancefelitis).

As treatment in CMC Vellore will be costly one Misthu Das returned to Tripura on 2nd August along with her daughter and Ajit Das leaving Pradip Das in Chennai  under the custody of another relative. On the same evening they went to meet a doctor(name intentionally kept hidden) with CMCs blood reports. However, the doctor advised them to go for another test for confirmation. Reports from a private pathology reveal that Haemoglobin percentage in Misthu's blood is considerably low( as is the case in such disease) and she was immediately admitted in Tripura Sundari District Hospital.

However, Paramita Das and Ajit Das were released on request from relatives provided that they would be under medical care in their homes. But experts say that this should not have been done unless they were fully cured. Even on Sunday Misthu Das is admitted in the hospital. But Medical Superintendent Dr Debasish Roy has no clue of her whereabouts as he thought she in AGMC. More importantly he did not even think to inform the CMO on this serious issue. CMO told media persons," No one informed meearlier . I might have taken advice from AGMC specialists and Director of Health Services. However, I assure all that there is no cause for worry.

Treatment and medicines for Ancefelitis are available in Tripura Sundari Hospital." Only a few days back(on the 10th Foundation Day of AGMC) Chief Minister Manik Sarkar asked the AGMC authorities to introduce Moral Education in the curriculum of budding MBBS graduates. But it is interesting to see how Chief Minister reacts on this case where a senior medical officer and that too a person holding a responsible post of Medical Superintendent may act in such an irresponsible way. This incident once again showed that traditional truth regarding health care facilities in Tripura are almost perished under two decades of Left regime.
