AGARTALA, July 27 (TIWN): The state Health Department today claimed that malaria outbreak was further contained in the state. No fresh death from the disease was reported from anywhere in the state today. Barely 399 patients were diagnosed to have contacted the malaria parasite in different hospitals and healthcare institutions on the day.
A highly placed source in the Department for Health and Family Welfare today said that 1,537 patients underwent blood tests during treatment across the state today. 399 out of them were found to have been infected with malaria parasite.
The total number of 2 lakh 33 thousand 397 patients were diagnosed and treated in different hospitals and healthcare institutions since the beginning of institutional treatment delivery in Tripura. Forty thousand five hundred and two out of them were diagnosed with malaria parasite till latest reports came in.
Meanwhile, threats of Japanese encephalitis outbreak still persist with large number of passengers coming through rail, road and airways. Most of passengers who come to Tripura through rail, road or air, come from West Bengal or Assam. And both states are seriously infected with Japanese encephalitis. So there is a threat, a source in the Department said.
