AGARTALA, June 5 (TIWN): Proving Tripura Fire Brigade Service just for name-sake in rescue operation, on Monday Agartala Fire Brigade workers remained silently standing, confused about what to do when a man was drowned in a culvert. The fire service workers neither brought any torch, nor any rope to save him. Seeing the paralyzed condition of the fire service troops, few local men jumped to save him and slowly they walked into the culvert with torches in hands & fortunately the victim was saved. The victim of the incident has been identified as Firoj Mia, but presently he is admitted in GB Hospital. The incident took place at Ranjit Nagar on Monday morning where local people cited example of humanity. Which could not be done by trained fire brigade force of Tripura, the common men have shown. After the incident locals also raised question, 'For what the employees are being paid if in emergency time common people have to do their duty ?'

Today's incident recalls once again Sept 27, 2016's incident when two young boys Subham Nama (18) & Mangal Das (26) died during a maintenance work at Indranagar due to lack of rescue teams in the whole City. During a maintenance work inside a culvert tank, a boy went inside to the tank but due to excessive gas inside the whole he started to scream for help. Fire brigade was informed but as fire brigade team was late, his co-worker jumped into the tank to save his friend, but he also fall on the same trap. But when Fire Brigade came, the 2nd boy was still alive, said the eye-witnesses. Fire brigade came late, then observing the condition they declined to work on it and said, “This is not our work”. However, the public said that the Fire Brigade men had no oxygen mask, no oxygen gas with them and that’s why they escaped from the spot to avoid peoples fury.

Now question arises, if it’s not Fire Brigade’s work what is their work actually whose work is this? Who will rescue and save a person in emergency situation in Tripura ?
