AGARTALA, May 30 (TIWN): The newly set Digital-friendly Modi Govt is turning heavy upon the monopolistic business of medical shop-keepers which always remained untracked whether the qualities are good or bad led a major section of people to depend upon E-purchasing of medicines. In Tripura also a huge number of E-purchasers were recorded, happily buying online medicines and enjoying the 'no headache' to go outside for purchasing medicine. Due to this process already businessmen in Tripura realizing public's increasing interest for online consumerism. Then Modi Govt gave another order for E-portal, where all the available drugs should be updated online by the medical shop-keepers, otherwise the license will be cancelled. This order due to some unknown reasons turned heavy upon the medical shop-keepers even in Tripura. Tripura medical shops drug-quality have been questioned multiple times and various times from banned phensedyl to drugs were recovered from many shops.

However, in E-portal all shops will put into place a track-and-trace mechanism for drugs sold throughout the country.

At present, bar-coding  on medicine packs is done only for exports, as the mechanism was opposed by the small and medium scale industry for medicines sold in the country.

However, as part of an agitation by the All-India Organisation of Chemists and Druggists (AIOCD) against the Centre’s plan for online supply of medicines, Tripura shopkeepers went on a day’s strike on Tuesday.

But from state govt no help has been done for the patients against the strike, which was done at Odisha. The Odisha Government has directed all medicals and health officials to remain alert and put emergency services on active mode. The officials have been asked to distribute medicines under Niramaya scheme. But for Tripura there no such option left for the patients.

Across GB Hospital premise (1st referral hospital of state) only 1 shop was found open, creating a crisis situation at there.
