AGARTALA, April 25 (TIWN): In the inauguration ceremony of Software Technology Parks of India (STPI) at Agartala on Tuesday, Central IT Minister Prem Prakash Choudhury said that the Central Govt has taken special initiatives to develop Northeast zone and much focused on the overall development of this region.

Prem Prakash Choudhury has arrived in Tripura on Tuesday and inaugurated the STPI in the presence of Tripura Industry & Commerce Minister Tapan Chakraborty, Tripura Industry & Commerce Principal Secretary M Nagaraju, Sanjiv Mittal, the joint Secretary of Ministry of Information & Technology, Dr. Omkar Rai, the Director General of (STPI), P K Das Director STPI .

Addressing the hall at Sahid Bhagat Sing hostel in the evening, Principal Secretary M Nagaraju said that these days are quite lucky days for Tripura as state is seeing much developments in IT and thus a hope is there for employment as well as industry.

'Since last 4 yrs as the principal secretary I didn't see such developments here in Tripura', added Nagaraju.

Tripura Govt also changed some policies to boost IT here in state, said both the Principal Secretary and Industry & Commerce Minister Tapan Chakraborty.

Dr. Omkar Rai, the Director General of (STPI) said, 'I am much hopeful that STPI will bring changes in economy, IT will grow and will be effective to reduce  the unemployment rate'.

The Central Minister also stressed upon the important of E-Governance. Citing example, the Minister said that Central Govt is saving a huge amount of money after direct beneficiary system was launched.

"BPOs will grow in Northeast robustly in coming days. Under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Digital India Mission, the states are developing faster, expanding they way of employment for the younger generation", said the Minister.
