AGARTALA, April 25 (TIWN): Whereas lack of cyber knowledge, proper training and modern equipments have kept Tripura Police much backward than developing states police force, the Central Govt has sanctioned Rs. 648.78 lakhs in last two financial years to modernize Tripura Police. Tripura police force is deprive of not only time to time training, but the poor paid police force also face hardtime in investigation due to lack of modern equipments in their hands. Agartala City's demand for CCTV cameras have left as only demands and the number of police force is also very less in state. Cyber Counter terrorism, Cyber crime deduction knowledge all have remained just as concept under Tripura Home Minister Manik Sarkar and DGP K Nagraj, eventhough DGP boosts a lot about crime deduction under his regime.

As per the state Govt data, "In a project to modernize Tripura Police the Central Govt has allocated Rs. 602.00 lakhs in 2015-16 and in 2016-17 Rs. 46.78 lakhs the Central Govt sent directly to the ordinance factory board for modern arms and machineries purchasing.

However, how far development has come in Tripura Police Dept. the data of crime records depict well. Neither the number of pending cases has been reduced, nor the loopholes of investigation could be recovered.

This scenario is nothing new, but in previous Financial Years the situation was same. Central Government had sanctioned Rs 45.52 crore  for financial year   2012 – 13, 2013 -14 and 31st December 2014.

As part of modernization plan, all police  station would have CC cameras. But CCTV camera is a matter of far way, but the police stations have no proper data base set ups or computerized crime records.

Tripura but DGP K Nagraj in 2016 during a press meet accepted that Tripura police to face heavy challenge due to lack of cyber-counter-crime arrangements. As the future challenges, Nagraj via a press release said, “With the technological advancement and the use of internet, social media etc. it is expected that the number of cyber crimes may increase in the coming days”.

But in reality cyber crime is such a crime against which hardly there are much FIRs lodged in state's police stations.
