AGARTALA / KOLKATA, March 16 (TIWN): CBI’s over-activism continue in Bengal as two top executives of a West Bengal-based group of companies have been arrested in connection with ongoing investigation into a chit fund case, a CBI official said on Wednesday.
"On the basis of a case registered by the Central Bureau of Investigation, the then Chief Managing Director Basudeb Bagchi and Managing Director Avik Bagchi of Prayag group of companies have been arrested for illegally collecting Rs 2,862 crores money from investors by fraudulently promising very high returns," a CBI spokesperson said. TMC raised important question that, after the two contradictory type of CBI actions were witnessed against Chit Fund scams at West Bengal and Tripura. Whereas at West Bengal the ruling party Trinamool’s Ministers also put in jail by CBI Joint Director Rajiv Singh, but at Tripura till date chit fund companies like Rose Valley, Sarada, I-Core, Basil International looted over 1200 crores of common peoples money under Manik Sarkar’s Govt for which same Rajiv Singh never took any actions.
Opposition parties Trinamool, BJP raised fingers against Manik Sarkar’s manipulation by hiring pet officials to cover various scams.
BJP’s Biplab Deb, Trinamool’s Asish Saha raised fingers against CBI Joint Director Rajiv Singh for bias on Chit Fund investigations.
According to the CBI, investigation has revealed that both Prayag group official accused allegedly collected approximately Rs 2,862 Crore from poor investors without permission from regulatory bodies and cheated them by not ensuring promised returns.
"Both accused will be produced before the Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate at Bidhan Nagar court on Thursday," the official said.
Manik Sarkar’s penchant for corrupt officials continue as Tripura CM hell-bent on hiring pet officials to cover-up various scams under CPI-M’s 23 years rule in Tripura.
Rose Valley Chit Fund siphoned huge money from Tripura even though Tripura Govt shown no interest to catch culprits, only formed a SIT (Special Investigation Team) for nameshake but nothing was done so far.
CBI’s Eastern, NE Zone’s most well known crusader Joint Director Rajiv Singh remained tight lipped when it came to Tripura’s turn but same Rajiv Singh was hyper-active against various Chit Fund scams Rose Valley, Sarada at West Bengal under Trinamool Govt.
Rose Valley Park, Rose Valley spices company (at Bodhjongnagar) are making huge profits, but the common people whose money were looted by the chit fund group today nobody talks about them. Infact the ruling govt also silent whether the Rose Valley customers will get back their money or not.
Lastly, TMC MP Sudip Banerjee was arrested by CBI , in allegation of closeness with Rose Valley, whereas Madan Mitra to MP Kunal Ghosh were held for Sarada.
But what about Tripura? Why CBI inquiry is getting delayed at here only?
As Minister Madan Mitra advertised, patronized Chit Fund on that time at Bengal, in Tripura also Bijita Nath propagated Rose Valley.
Moreover, the Park itself was inaugurated by CM Manik Sarkar, CM also delivered favorable speech…. Then why no investigation evenafter SIT’s total failure in this case?
More than 70 chit fund groups looted Tripura under CPI-M regime, but CBI to Central Authoritiesare surprisingly silent in this corruption issue. ‘
Over 1200 Crores were looted from Tripura’s common people, but none of the leaders of Tripura were summoned by CBI.
State Trinamool President Aashis Saha blamed Rajiv Singh for CBI’s lame-duck attitude on Tripura’s Chit Fund scams.
It’s worthy to mention here that on Oct 10, 2016, Tripura BJP state president Biplab Deb had expressed extreme displeasure to the slow move of SIT against Chit Fund groups, which looted crores from Tripura people.“SIT working in favour of CPI-M, as Rajib Sing favoured earlier. BJP always was against Rajib Singh as this former IGP was a member of Manik Sarkar’s close coterie”, said Biplab Deb.
But presently no actions are taken against Tripura’s massive chit fund frauds as Manik Sarkar Govt’s SIT again failed to submit chargesheet on July 31, 2016 at High Court. All of the 70 chit fund cases lying dead under SIT which is expected under CPI-M’s manipulation to hide rampant corruptions.
