AGARTALA, March 12 (TIWN): When the first broad gauge train chugged on railway tracks at Agartala Railway Station, that time BJP did not gained much popularity in Tripura, but one of the fellow passengers raised slogan from the train, "Modi jit ki jai ho...". Now, instead of all the naggings led by CPI-M against PM Modi's Act East Policy, there are huge Modi-craze among the young people in Tripura, which has proven as a better leader than the earlier. Manik Sarkar achieved the award of wisest Chief Minister for few reasons as shaping Tripura with highest literacy rate, even though unemployed youths number crossed 7 lakhs. But his 97 % 'Educated' people understood well who is doing the railway works for Tripura, who is giving direct benefit of MGNREGA wages, who is filtering PMAY scheme. Thus tension is high at Melarmath party office and reportedly meetings and talks constantly going among CPI-Ms on about poll-planning. CITU, DYFI, TSU, SFI people were called and told to strengthen the left front power as much as possible. But the main matter of worry is that BJP led Central Govt is planning further for more railway cars, more stations and even double lane of rail. Apart from that Modi has planned to convert NE as an Industry hub.

In this condition Manik Sarkar's 1980's story about railway move led by SFI which he was boosted during Tripura Sundari Railway inauguration in the presence of Union Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu; has not worked at all upon Tripura voters mind. Experts said that this poll effect of UP, Uttarakhand may badly hit Tripura CPI-M Govt in the next election.

Eventhough, the Union finance minister Arun Jaitley didn’t announce any specific scheme or projects for the north-east in his budget speech but the mood in the region was positive overall. States in the region would likely to get a total of Rs 43,285 crores in 2017-18 and there’s hope that of the 3,500 km of new railway lines commissioned for the coming financial year a sizeable part would be constructed in the region.  Assam CM Sarbananda Sonowal terming the budget as ‘historic’ said that the target for agricultural credit in 2017-18 at Rs 10 lakh crores adding “special efforts” will be taken to ensure adequate flow of credit.

Reportedly, the union government has proposed broad-gauge connectivity to all state capitals in the north-east by 2020 and conversion of entire rail network to broad-gauge in the 2017-18 budget.

RBI revealed that after Modi came in power, the investment for NE was more than the loan taken from RBI by Govt of India. In this condition people are eager to see what development Tripura PWD brings and what development NFR brings in Tripura ahead of Election-2018.
